The roles and interventions of the Council in the regulatory procedure for applications submitted for the placing on the market of genetically modified food and feed under Regulation (EC) 1829/2003 is summarised in the diagram on the right side.
For the scientific evaluation of these dossiers and in addition to the abovementioned Decree, the Council can refer to several guidelines applicable to higher plants and/or other (micro-)organisms, listed on the Belgian Biosafety Server.
